Greetings from Fourth Grade
December 23, 2007
How quickly this year is flying by. Christmas, already? The excitement level grows each day as we prepare for Jesus' birth. Each morning we read a portion of the Bible story which tells us about the parts of life that lead up to the birth of Jesus. We open a religious Advent Calendar to read its quote for the day, and then, open another door in the secular Advent Calendar, to find a treat.
Scholastically, we have been a busy group. Last month we read The Cricket in Times Square, discussing it during each Reading class. How much we enjoyed Tucker Mouse., Harry the Cat and Chester the Cricket. If we could only talk to animals in real life. What stories we would hear! In Math, we are learning double digit multiplication. Practice, practice, practice! The good news is that Fourth Graders really know their multiplication tables. Ask any one of them how much 9 times 8 is. In English class, singular and plural nouns are being examined. We are studying the Weather in Science now. Inquiring minds look out windows and give the day's forecast.
The Fourth Graders completed a five week session in Junior Achievement, taught by Mrs. Yolanda Bindert. During this time, the class learned about setting up businesses all over the country. Our thanks go to Mrs. Bindert for the time she spent with us and for her well-planned lessons.
All in all, this school year is a very good one. I am blessed to have all twelve students in Fourth Grade. Merry Christmas to all! Mrs. Eichinger
