NEWS FROM KINDERGARTEN

November 25, 2007

October was a busy month in Kindergarten.  The children enjoyed their field trip to the pumpkin farm.  Farmer Paul taught the children where food comes from and what life is like on a farm.  They enjoyed a hayride, feeding the goats and walking through the cornfield maze.  Each child received a pumpkin to bring home.  Mrs. Peggy came to help chaperone out trip.  Everyone was happy to see her and have her with us again.

We ended the month with a Halloween party.

In November we learned about native Americans and the explores who journeyed to the Americas.  We read stories about the first Thanksgiving and compared how Thanksgiving was then and is now.  The children spent time thinking about what they are thankful for and made "I am thankful necklaces".

After out Thanksgiving break, we look forward to another busy month in December.

The Kindergarten class is busy learning a letter each week.  They work on recognizing and printing the letter, as well as connecting the sound to the letter.

In Religion and Social Studies they learned about families.  The children talked about things they enjoy doing with their families.  They each made a Family Tree.

In Math the children have learned to sort by shape and color.

They are looking forward to their first Field Trip in October.
