School Mission

St. Domitilla School is a Catholic parish school dedicated to the total development of its students.

As a Catholic school, we the staff lead our students in faith and knowledge as Jesus did.

St. Domitilla seeks to fulfill the threefold purpose of Christian message, Christian Community and Christian service.

To this end we recognize the responsibility to create and foster a Christian atmosphere wherein each child can develop a positive self-image that will enable him/her to study, learn, and achieve in life according to his/her fullest.

Meshed in the religious - academic program of the school are Christian values, the daily caring, sharing and living example of our Christian witness.

Our goal is in leading our students to become responsible citizens, responsible to themselves, to their fellow man and to become hope-filled people, eager to face in faith and trust the future with confidence.

School Philosophy

St. Domitilla Catholic School in Hillside, Illinois serves a suburban population representing a wide range of cultures, religions, and economic backgrounds. Within this diversity, St. Domitilla School fosters Catholic education which includes the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical growth at our school.

St. Domitilla faculty and staff recognize that our children's parents/guardians, as the primary educators, have chosen us as partners in the formal education of their children. Thus we believe that the students, faculty and parents are co-responsible and accountable.

We at St. Domitilla School believe that the foundation of all our teaching is based on the lived practice of our Catholic Faith. We believe that children are unique individuals who approach learning with various styles, backgrounds, and abilities and we expect each child to develop his/her God-given abilities. We strive to create/enhance positive self-concepts, teach the basic skills, augment critical thinking skills and foster the growth of Catholic values by utilizing a variety of teaching methods.

Knowing that we are also a part of a much larger local community, we at St. Domitilla believe that we are an integral part of the Catholic Church's ministry to the community. Enlightened by the spirit of the Gospel we continue to accept this challenge and responsibility.
