SECOND GRADE NEWS
October 7, 2007
The second graders have had a very busy first month of school. They prepared the opening Liturgy for us on September 7th. The students did a wonderful job with the readings and music. It was hard to believe that they prepared only one school Mass last May when they were in first grade. They seemed to be old pros at reading and singing in front of the congregation.
The children have been reviewing what they have learned in reading, phonics and math. They have also studied the parts of a plant. They are looking forward to the month of October with Halloween and a field trip to the pumpkin farm.
It has been a sad month for the children though. Their teacher, Sister Mary Ellen, had to have emergency surgery on September 16th. She will be out of school for about six weeks. The second graders have made cards to cheer her. Miss Palazzo is subbing for them until Sister returns to school. The children were very happy to hear that Sister Mary Ellen is feeling much better and is looking forward to seeing them again.
